Song of the Day (Music Monday Edition): ‘Automatic’ by The Get Up Kids
I have been seeing The Get Up Kids live since the mid to late 90s and got to see them again last Saturday. They have been one of my fave bands for a long time now. Woodson is my favorite Get Up Kids song, and according to Wikipedia is the first song they ever wrote.

After the show I asked Jim Suptic (he sings Woodson pictured above via Pitch) if they weren’t going to play Woodson anymore and he responded “I’d play Woodson all day, every day” which made me incredibly happy. He then said to talk to Matt (Pryor, the main singer) because he said people didn’t want to hear it. Matt was next to him, so I told him I wanted to hear Woodson, because it was the best song ever and my friend Amiee ran up at that time and said the same thing. This made Jim happy & laugh & he told Matt, “see they want to hear Woodson.”
Matt responded with “we played Shorty” to which I said “I knew it! I knew that since you played Shorty you weren’t going to play Woodson!”
I could tell that Matt was getting mad, but I love that song. As I was walking away a friend of mine yelled my name & I turned around to see him waiting in line for autographs. He was in front of Matt now & I told him “tell him that Woodson is the best song ever” which he did. Matt looked real annoyed. It was pretty funny. That was my night.
